One of St. James’ most anticipated annual outreach projects, the Giving Tree is a fun and easy way to make Christmas more special for a great number children and adults.  A tree is placed in the Church on or about the first week of Advent and decorated with paper stars representing gifts for the people and organizations we are supporting.  Stars almost fly off the tree as people select the ones they want.  Shopping for the children is fun and cash donation opportunities make it easy for people you can’t get out to shop or would rather provide meals or scholarships.  Gifts are due back mid-December in time for distribution before Christmas Day.

Last year, the Wonderful Days Preschool children and their siblings each received two gifts (one “want” and one “need”) for a total of 138 gifts.  Cash donations were also represented on the tree with 27 - $15 gifts to Wonderful Days Preschool for student meals, 30 - $25 gifts for Emmaus House teens, and 30 - $50 scholarships for St. James’ Lumakanda students.
