 This week at St. James':

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Lee and John Williams. Their son Edward, 28, died on Sunday. Visitation with the family will be in the St. James' Parlor on Thursday, Dec. 18 at 12:15 p.m. The funeral service will immediately follow at 1:30 p.m.

Thank you all for your support of the St. James' Giving Tree.  The kids will be going home for the Christmas Holidays and will not be back until January, so please bring your wrapped gift by tomorrow, Wednesday, Dec. 17th, so the kids will get to open them on Christmas! Christi Trombetti  770-973-4994.

Wednesday night supper -   tomorrow will be the last Wednesday night meal of 2008.  Our next Wednesday night supper will be on January 7th!

Sunday December 21st, The Christmas Sing-A-Long lunch is almost here! Stay on after the 11:15 service on Sunday, December 21st, and join us in our annual Sing- A-Long, this year with lunch! Children will enjoy the songs, but will also have a blast with games such as “Santa’s Helper”, “You Could Even Say It Glows”, and “Stuff the Santa” as well as Christmas jokes and riddles - delivered by the children.  The emcee of the event will be the funny David Williams (I would say irreverent, but maybe that's not a good thing, so close to Christmas) Join us for all the fun! PLEASE make sure to RSVP for this event so Russell will know how many chicken fingers for the kids to prepare and how much roast pork to bake.  Send me a reply email or call me 770-428-5841.

      • December 24th, 5:00 p.m. The Living Crèche, our Christmas Eve Pageant for children, preschool through 5th grade, is back by popular demand!  “The Living Crèche”, allows children to participate as whichever Nativity character they would like, other than Mary and Joseph who are traditionally chosen from our fifth grade class.  In the past we have had angels, shepherds, sheep, wise people to walk with the kings, stars, and all sorts of animals, whether cows, donkeys, oxen, and camels or bees, birds, gorillas, and turtles!

      • December 25th, Christmas Day service, at 10:30 and Christmas Day potluck lunch. Bring a dish to share, but call to the church office to RSVP so we know how many smoked salmon and singing tuna to purchase.
      • December 28, Christmas Lessons and Carols 9 a.m. & 11:15 a.m.
      • December 31, New Year's Eve Service 11 p.m. (Join the St. James' Change Bell Ringers as they  ring in the new year).
      •  January 3, 2009, The Wonderful Days of Winter Race. Please register to run in the race.  If you don't like to sweat, you can either walk in the race or sign up as a phantom runner. And you can also sign up to be a sponsor. Look for Ann Patrick or someone cute like her in the foyer of the Parish Hall any weekend from now 'til race time.

T'ai Chi will not meet again until January of 2009.

St. James' very successful 'Job Club' is back in action again.  Under the leadership of Bill Eubanks and Tim Raasch, the Club will keep you on track, rev up your job hunting skills and help you network.  Club meetings will be every Thursday (except Christmas) at 7:00 a.m. in Room 143.

The St. James' recycling bin has arrived.  Look for it in the Polk Street parking lot and fill it up with your newspapers, magazines and phone books. Please help us save the environment by reducing the impact we make in the landfills.  Everytime the company empties the bin, they will give St. James a check.  - so let's fill it up every week!!! How about recycling those Christmas catalogs too.

St. James' devotions are written every weekday by one of the clergy or a guest who might be clergy or lay.  They are based on the Daily Office lectionary.  They are automatically sent to your email address through yahoogroups. This is the address for signing up for the devotions:  This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . Or we can sign you up if you email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

The 7:45 a.m. Sunday morning service needs a few more ushers.  Please contact Dixon Grubbs at 770-529-5905.

Special note (could be very important): the recipe for Sesame Chicken Bites handed out at the Advent Event had one incorrect ingredient.  It should read 2 C raw chicken or turkey, cubed --- not 2 C cooked chicken.
