One of the greatest outreach ministries at St. James' is Wonderful Days, a ministry started in 1974 as an outreach to area low-income families by providing their four-year-olds with a tuition-free preschool program.  The program began as Wonderful Wednesdays and has evolved over the years into its current five days a week, two classroom status.

The day begins at 8:30 a.m., when the children are picked up at their homes by the Wonderful Days bus.  Upon arriving at St. James', the children are fed breakfast to begin their day.  At the end of the morning, they are fed a nutritious lunch before returning home at 1:30.

Our goal is to prepare these students for kindergarten by providing them with a preschool experience they might otherwise be denied.  We strive to promote each child's cognitive, emotional, spiritual, and physical growth in a positive, structured environment.  Wonderful Days uses immersion and a literacy based curriculum to teach English to Hispanic children, thereby preventing a language barrier to their academic achievement.

Wonderful Days largest fundraising event is the Wonderful Days of Winter 5k.  The event will take place on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at St. James' Episcopal Church.

Please visit the Wonderful Days Preschool Website to learn more about the programs.
